New article today on one of the iconic private beaches of Nice and the French Riviera, one of my favorite places in Nice, Castel Plage. I have been writing this blog for more than 6 years, presenting you my good addresses in Nice and I realize that I have not yet written an article on Castel Plage. What a shame, I who like to advise you on my favorite addresses in Nice to organize your stay or your holidays. Since I went there for dinner this week, it was therefore important to correct this affront and write an article on Castel Plage.
Castel Plage is one of the emblematic places of Nice, unmissable places. It is even one of the postcards of Nice, the word "Castel" written on the stone is entirely part of the landscape of Nice, like the Negresco, also on the Promenade des Anglais.
Through this article, I will mainly tell you about the restaurant part, because I don't have any photos of the beach part, it's been a while since I went there during the day.
Presentation of Castel Plage
Castel Plage has a perfect location in Nice, at the eastern end of the Promenades des Anglais, facing the Old Nice. Castel Plage is thus located at the foot of the Castel hill. This position offers it for me the most beautiful panorama of all the private beaches of Nice. Being located at the end of the Promenade des Anglais, which is a bit arc-shaped, you have from Castel Plage a superb view of the entire Baie des Anges. It's simply magnificent, I could stay there for hours. I have been in Nice for 12 years now, and I realize that I love this city more and more (which, it is true, has become more and more beautiful in recent years). So if you want to spend a day on one of the private beaches with the most beautiful panorama, for me you have to go to Castel Plage.
Not only is the location perfect, but so is the setting. Castel Plage is by far the most beautiful private beach in Nice. Besides, I'm a little mistaken in saying that Castel Plage is a private beach, because you shouldn't think that this place is just a place to relax on deckchairs during the day. No, it's also a restaurant and I would even say Castel Plage is above all a restaurant that takes place in a superb setting mixing Art Deco and contemporary painters and sculptors, including Ben le Niçois. You may not be aware, but Art Deco has an important place in Nice (look closely at the facades of the buildings). The decoration of the Castel Plage restaurant creates a very warm, very cocooning atmosphere, which invites you to travel because the significant presence of wood, sculpture-type decorative elements and warm colors can also give the feeling of being in Asia or elsewhere. in the world. A decoration that outclasses all the other private beaches in Nice. I'm not going to hide it, Castel Plage offers a very chic but not stuffy atmosphere that I love. It's the Côte d'Azur!
My opinion on the Castel Plage restaurant
Because the setting is very chic, because we are directly on the beach, because we have the impression of being elsewhere, because the service is very good (compared to other beaches where I do not go to hide, the wait is long and you are not considered very much), and because the food is very good there, I have been going every summer, for almost 10 years, to Castel Plage either to celebrate my birthday (or that of my boyfriend ), or to celebrate our anniversary of meeting. Important personal events, so if we go to Castel Plage it is because it is really a very beautiful place. It has become a ritual, Castel Plage is a perfect restaurant to celebrate a great occasion, an event or simply have fun. This week I went there with Julie, with whom I co-founded the agency After Five (but above all a great friend), to celebrate the upcoming arrival of our summer holidays. And as we wanted to have a good time in a chic setting, Castel Plage was a must. Besides, we felt so good that we left at midnight.
The menu of the Castel Plage restaurant is very complete, with a large choice of meat and fish. As I hardly eat meat anymore, I opted for a back of cod accompanied by mashed potatoes in olive oil. Excellent.
For dessert, I opted for a Pavlova with its scoop of strawberry ice cream. Very very copious, I could not finish it !
I'm not talking about the wine list which includes very very good rosés! Rosé is important in Nice, especially when you are directly by the sea (to be consumed in moderation of course...).
We once again ate very well, we had a great evening. Still no disappointment after all these years, Castel Plage is a safe bet.
